Scissors Metzenbaum – 12.5cm/5in Crv (S/Steel)

Metzenbaum scissors are used to incise the deep rib bed periosteal layer, but they stay extrapleural. Retropleural dissection is performed by a combination of finger, sponge, and Kittner dissection, which allows elevation and separation of parietal pleura from the periosteal layer.

Metzenbaum scissors

Metzenbaum scissors are surgical scissors designed for cutting delicate tissue and blunt dissection. The scissors come in variable lengths and have a relatively long shank-to-blade ratio. They are constructed of stainless steel and may have tungsten carbide cutting surface inserts. The blades can be curved or straight, and the tips are usually blunt. This is the most common type of scissors used in organ-related operations. The Scissors have one serrated cutting edge and one thumb ring is Gold color coated for identification. It has both cutting edges inserted with tungsten carbide tips. One edge is smooth and one cutting edge is fine serrated. Both thumb rings are Gold color coated.
